Parks and Recreation

Jackie Robinson Memorial Park is just north of Highway 73 in Geismar. The facility offers residents a well-manicured, lighted ball field and two basketball courts. Picnickers will find nice shady areas created by sprawling oak trees. A concession stand, BBQ pavilion and large playground are also found at the park.  Just over the parish line to the North, in Baton Rouge, is the always popular Blue Bayou Water Park providing a cool getaway during the summer months.

Attractions and Activities

Pelican Point Golf Club is a semi-private course in nearby Gonzales that meanders around lakes and the beautiful Pelican Point Homes. This championship layout opened for play in 1998, and in 2004 it was selected by Golf Digest as one of the "Best Places to Play." Pelican Point is located behind the historic Houmas House Plantation not far from the Mississippi River. And don't be surprised if you see the occasional alligator sunning itself where the course abuts swampy treed lands.  No worries though as they are very accustomed to people and golf carts.
